Hiç Anlaşilamamis
“Never Truly Understood”
“Bilincimi etkileyen iki kişiye… Teşekkür ederim.”
“To the two people who influenced my consciousness… thank you.”

I have never been able to speak briefly. In short sentences, I have never searched for either an essence or a meaning. For me, sentences that are not long enough are those that have not been dwelled upon enough. Because a person lingers most where they think the most.
I will not be able to write a poem, because while writing poetry you would have to imagine the meanings I hide between the lines. You would have to envision what I was feeling at that moment, perhaps even what was passing through my mind in sequence. Perhaps this is the hardest part: even if I use short sentences or explain at length, I may still remain misunderstood. Perhaps this is the saddest part. An ununderstood reality is always the most improbable one.
Without giving up, without saying “never mind,” I will still try to make you visualize every detail in your mind. Call me hopeful or still eager—it does not matter. It depends not on how much you try, but on how much you imagine. I would want you to lose yourself and fly while your eyes wander across the lines. In this way, you will come one step closer to understanding me. Here you will find not pieces of yourself, but pieces of me; you will assemble them and sway on the edge of a cliff. If you’re ready welcome to my world.

Her şey bitmeyecek, hiçbir meyve daldan düşmeyecek sanmıştım.

Beginning
You settled into my mind without my knowing how you entered. Perhaps there was a window, or only curtains symbolizing one. I do not remember whether there was light, but there was a button. It never occurred to me to look at the ceiling. If I had seen the lamp, I would certainly remember it; that would also have proven that the light existed. Somehow, perhaps, I placed myself there. I set down a chair and sat. From the place where all my laziness spread, I imagined parting the curtains and enjoying that beautiful view. But did you ever run out of oxygen? Ah, I do not know—I do not remember that either—but if you do not have lungs, why would you need oxygen? Why would anyone search for fruit on branches that have not yet sprouted? Had I been born, then? No—my feet were still not touching the ground.
There was always a trembling, one that shook the chair I sat on and caused a slight nausea within me. Yet I had never thought that these tremors would one day come to an end. I believed nothing would finish, that no fruit would ever fall from its branch. In this way, I called the ending that was never meant to come closer. I am sure it haunted me. I am sure it mocked me. But such things can happen to anyone, after all. There are words that must be spoken and efforts that must be made in order to escape. It depends on how willing you are. Is your desire intense enough to defeat you, or intense enough to consume you? Tell me. I could swear it opened its mouth. What would I not have given to enter your mind?
There was another tremor, but this time it was different from the others, because I felt as though the ground beneath the chair I was sitting on was about to collapse downward. What could I have done? That end would surely come; I would fall into the world and be born. After all, do we not all emerge from a wreckage and continue with whatever pieces we manage to salvage? Whether they are intact or not does not matter; that foundation will one day crack, because you did not build it. You were given no choice. You would fall into that pit. The debris that once felt comforting as it settled over you will now become a weight upon you. Here, words hold no importance; it depends on how awake you can keep your consciousness, for that is the only reality that cannot be deceived.

Sanki her şey yerlerinden kıpırdamaya başlamış gibiydi.

The Pit
How and when I fell does not matter. I am in a pit where I am alone. There were tons of debris upon me, yet this time I was certain that there was a light above. But where did I get this knowledge from?
— Do not worry; I will teach you what you do not know.
A whisper? To teach? I am sure it was implanted knowledge. Perhaps I was determined to reach that light, but I did not know the reason. Without thinking about how long I would remain in the darkness, I had no intention of letting my eyes adjust. Even if that light pierced through my retina, it would reach the yellow spot. For my mind to understand, a brief, splitsecond image was enough. It did not need to make sense of it, because the only goal at that moment was to assume that the reality it knew was light and to reach it.
With such certainty, it had lulled itself to sleep for so long that I had thought the letters would never knock on the door and the pen, strained through light, would never strike the table. Something cracked. It was as if everything had begun to shift from its place. The fruits on the branches drifted upward. The weights upon me flew upward. My hair lifted upward. The soil forming the bottom rose upward, and grains of sand scattered into the air. It was difficult to see around me, because the air seemed muddied. However long I remained suspended in the air, eventually my throat began to feel as if it were tightening. It was a strange sensation; I felt as though I were choking. Something seemed to be squeezing my throat. Rather than an invisible hand, it felt like unspoken words. They emerged through my ears.
— Why did you try to be creative? Did you think all that weight would rise just like in those moments when you sat in your chair, carried only by your dreams? But there is one thing I do not understand: How did you know that your end would lead to a light?
Here, the right to answer fell to me.
— I did not know. When I fell, I was in a pit, and when I saw the fragments above me and the insects wandering through the pit, I realized that a light from somewhere was illuminating the place. And if I was at the bottom and could not see anything below, then the light had to be above.
— You must endure the pain you deserve, and how long it takes you to learn this does not matter. Whenever you are left incomplete, you will become whole again, and afterward you will once more be left incomplete.
Thinking that I deserved it, I remained silent.

Kocaman kulaklarıyla her şeyi duyabilirdi. Yine beni kendine bağlayan gözleri oldu. Kırmızının en parlağıydı. Kucağıma aldım ve beraber yürüdük. Bana öylece bakıyordu. Onu sonradan buldum fakat sanki uzun zamandır benimle gibiydi.

Sustainable Pain
I climbed out of the pit. There was no longer any wreckage on me, yet there was an emptiness. It felt as though I had been more at peace in that pit. At least I had felt that I belonged. The pieces were taken off me and disappeared, yet they still belonged to me. I was happy with what belonged to me. I had not even noticed how much my chest hurt. Now things were different. My feet were touching the ground, and my nose was breathing in the air frantically, as if trying to trap all the oxygen it could inside me. Was the air clean? I did not feel sick; then it must have been clean.
My mind could not be called empty. It was filled with many heavy questions. What would happen now?
My eyes closed and my pupils turned inward: there is a road, a long road. It will place obstacles before you, things that will tempt you, confuse you, and try to lead you astray. On this road, you must not listen to your desires, because they pass through the heart. But there is another road—your instincts. Trusting them will bring you peace. Not the peace or the things you once had, perhaps, but you are now born, and that is what matters.
My neck ached from looking at the sky and searching for fruit among the branches of trees. Yet the only things I could see were birds. Finally, night had fallen; I was free from the buzzing of the bees. I felt tired and went to lie beneath a tree. When I closed my eyes, I opened them again because of a sound I heard. This was something different—something I
had never heard during the day. I listened to the sound that unsettled me and turned my head. A pure white owl, marked with black spots. Its eyes stared for a long time, as if seeing behind my own. Its beak was so sharp that I thought it might tear something from me. It spread its wings and flew away, making a strange sound. I am sure its head continued to face me as it left. Its neck seemed broken from birth.
It possessed a certain depth. There was no fear in its eyes. It seemed to claim that it was fear itself. If I had screamed, it surely would have cried out louder and drowned my voice. It was a strange encounter, yet it felt familiar. It was as if it truly intended to steal something from me.
Day came, yet the light still did not seem fully bright. It was dimmer than I had imagined— dry and lifeless. As I walked, I ate the wild fruits that grew among the bushes, and then I saw a white tuft of fur. I reached out; it moved and leapt—a rabbit. With its large ears, it could hear everything. Once again, it was the eyes that bound me to it—the brightest shade of red. I picked it up, and we walked together. It simply looked at me. I had found it only later, yet it felt as though it had been with me for a long time. You find me, never let go.
Night fell again, and we slept beneath another tree. This time I was not alone; my rabbit was with me now. Yet I heard that same sound again. This time, an unexplained unease filled me. Before I even had the chance to turn my head, the owl seized the rabbit by its ears, drove its claws into its head, and carried it away. My rabbit, as if already knowing this would be its end, seemed to clasp its paws together in a final prayer. I could do nothing but watch what was happening. Yet now I understood that the source of my unease was my own fear.

The Tunnel
The speaking voice was now far away. It was crackling; I could not understand it. Despite all the stairs I had climbed, I still had not seen a door. I had moved far from the ground. I could not look down, yet the wind seemed to grow stronger with every step. My ears were filled with a ringing, as if something were trying to speak. My skin had turned purple. My breath felt as though it had been compressed into a tube.
I had not asked a single question until now. I did not know where my rabbit was, but I wished it had arrived before me. I would have wanted it to wait for me behind a door.
My knees could no longer carry my body. My mind grew so clouded that I was certain no air was entering my lungs. I fell onto the stairs, and the blood flowing from my knee dripped down each step, as if marking the path I had come from. My eyes closed, and when I slowly lifted my head and looked upward, the door was now blocking the wind. I reached for the handle, tore the key from my neck, and opened it at once. The door opened. I had not even noticed how long the key had been hanging from my neck.
It lay stretched out like a pelt. Its heart was now without a soul. I was trembling. It had been slain. Yet I had once seen its spirit. Perhaps this was not the first time it had been captured, for there were wounds on its ears. But each time it must have managed to escape—perhaps to reach me. Now it had taken refuge in me, and its weakening spirit had also weakened its body. I saw its head; it was covered in scratches. Carrying it to the very end was now my duty.
As it moved along the path with me, its smell began to grow stronger. Death would not leave my doorstep; with its scent it reminded me, to the very end, of the regret it had caused. I hate the corpse you have become. I wish you were alive; at least the buzzing around my head would not increase. I owed you this.
From here on, something would carry us forward. Something once again seeped into my mind and filled me with knowledge. My eyes rolled back.
— These were only a part of the pain you deserve. I told you not to be deceived by what would appear on your path! Something like this—perhaps even more painful—will find you. There will be no hole in which you can hide!
— No! You are mistaken. If pain will find me in every hole where I try to hide, then I will create a new dimension. If what I possess is to be stolen, I will create new things. Your reality is hidden within my dimension, and what you do not know is that you have not yet encountered my reality. You possess my mind, but there is a memory hidden behind it!
This time, I was the one who opened my eyes. I had torn it out from the nest it had returned to. Perhaps this was the true reality. But if this was the true reality, why was it struggling to lose reality itself?

Her yudumda ağzıma ölüm tadı yayılıyordu.

Rupture
Without knowing where I was going, I simply kept moving. The road would surely show me the way. I do not know whether the seeds I planted have sprouted, because I never had the chance to water them. As for the sun, it has been a long time since I lost hope in it. I tampered with the clocks to make things speed up. The hour hand I spun with my finger turned back and stung me. When I pushed the minute hand, the seconds began to mock me.
Somewhere far away, or perhaps very close, there was a tea party. At the table, things were spoken that even a turtle would not dare to emerge from its shell to hear, while the dead bodies I had seated remained still. There was an illumination more destructive than reality itself. Even while waiting for my tea to cool, I was terribly impatient. I dropped plenty of sugar into it so that it would cool quickly. Colored flashes of lightning were sparking in my eyes. For a moment my gaze drifted to the rabbit; it was decayed, its eyes wrapped in a sneering black. That was when I realized we were in darkness.
I finished my tea in a single gulp, and grains of coffee struck my eye. I asked permission to leave the table, but they were too dead to respond. So I asked permission from the silence, blinking my eyes. I scooped up the coffee grounds and brewed a cup of coffee. With every sip, the taste of death spread through my mouth. I must have burned it. I am impatient. Unable to endure seeing my dreams, I closed my cup. Suddenly, the rabbit stood up:
— What you have done is unacceptable! Your impatience is bringing about the end of us all.
Do you think cheating will bring you any closer to the end? Darkness will swallow us all. What you have done is unforgivable; you must be exiled from here!
Before leaving me a word to say, my eyes rolled back. My hair was enough to lift me into the air. My body had grown as light as a bird. It felt as if dozens of organs inside me had been removed.
Emptiness had now become more tangible. Either I could produce no solution to this, or all the feelings that once helped me dream had been taken away. I knew I would be lost. Yet I thought being lost might be a better solution. I did not return to the beginning, but I made the path ahead darker. Now the road was filled not with things that would distract me, but with fears that would not leave me in peace even in my sleep. Still, I had to keep moving forward.

Sonun çıkmazı
Gözlerini gördüm. Bana bakan gözleri… Epey yoğun ve ağırdı bakışları. Çünkü içleri kan doluydu; her an ağlayacak gibiydi. Gözlerine daldım, her bir özelliğine. Bence epey derindiler; geçirdiğim vakitler boyunca nefesimi tutmak zorunda kalmıştım. Bir anlığına ruhuna dokunduğumu sandım bu yüzden. Ama yanılmışım. Hiç dokunamadım ruhuna, hiç hissedemedim.
Şimdi devam etmem lazım. Kaldığım yerden, belki de senin beklediğin yerden devam etmeliyim. Sen merkezdeyken spirali terk etme imkânım yok. Gözlerine son kez baktım, belki yeniden bir şeyler görebilmek umuduyla. Ama ne oldu? Kızdın mı bana? Her tarafı kan göleti yapasıya kadar gözlerinden kanlar aktı. Çırpınmaya çalışırken, çimenlere sürtünerek çıktım ve hâlâ dizlerimin üzerindeydim. Bir kırkayak gibi. Sorun değil, çünkü bunu seviyorum. Yere baktığımda artık daha fazla detay görüyorum. Düşünceler artık havada asılı değiller; dengeyi bulduklarına eminim. Ama ben yine de kanayan bir tuvalim.
Acı binbir yüze sahip. Acı; zincirin uzunluğuna, kırbacın gücüne, bir tüyün gıdıklamasına sahip. Ben ise hiçbir şeye… Tavşanı kulaklarından asın, yüzü binbir şekle bürünecektir.
Belirsizlik içinde artık her şey.

Dead End of the End
I saw your eyes. The eyes that looked at me… Their gaze was intense and heavy, because they were filled with blood, as if they could burst into tears at any moment. I dived into your eyes, into every detail of them. They were very deep, I think; during the time I spent there, I had to hold my breath. For a moment, I thought I had touched your soul. But I was mistaken. I could never touch your soul, never feel it.
Now I must continue. I must go on from where I left off—perhaps from the place where you expected me to continue. While you are at the center, I have no way of leaving the spiral. I looked into your eyes one last time, hoping to see something again. But what happened? Did you get angry with me? Blood flowed from your eyes until everything turned into a pool of it. While trying to struggle, I crawled out, rubbing against the grass, and I was still on my knees—like a centipede. It does not matter, because I like it this way. When I look at the ground, I now see more details.
Thoughts are no longer hanging in the air; I am sure they have found their balance. Yet I am still a bleeding canvas.
Pain has a thousand faces. Pain has the length of a chain, the strength of a whip, the tickle of a feather. I, however, have nothing. Hang the rabbit by its ears and its face will take on a thousand forms.
Everything is now within uncertainty. My mind is my home; uncertainties have thrown me into the pit of a blind rabbit. Despite the leaking tea, the broken cup screams in madness—the rabbit screaming. Tea spilling from the cracks wets my skirt.
Now I am inside a circle, at the center. Something is pulling me toward it. How many steps I take does not matter, because I belong here. Even if I cannot see in the dark, lighting a few matches will calm the other side of me. When I reach the castle, I will grasp the knocker and strike it. I will release my thoughts upon the person who appears before me. How terrifying it is does not matter, yet it is still hunting me. First I will destroy my dreams, then my thoughts. I will be subjected to yet another trial in order to be rebuilt. I have no intention of starting from the beginning; I only wish to lengthen the road I walk. Since time moves slowly, extending the path will change nothing. I will arrive at the center in due time. After all, I am within a circle—perhaps the darkness and secrecy of a dead-end street, perhaps a cycle. It is impossible to understand where it leads without jumping into it. I am not sure whether there is ground or emptiness. Even if I fall onto my head, my thoughts will scatter before I do.
Sliding along the lines of the spiral, at a bend where wheels throw sparks… Perhaps they will ignite nothing, yet because of the smoke rising from within me, my mouth exhales smoke like a chimney. My lungs need to open, to be squeezed. Lack of air is not my complaint, yet my ribs have already separated, and a part of me has long been stolen. New pieces will be needed for them to reunite, because they have already lost their essence.
With my last remaining breath, I could tell you every detail, yet your eyes still seem as if they would not understand. I could give you all my breath, yet your lungs still seem as though they would wither. Now the spiral keeps turning even if I do not turn it—as if it were necessary. Breaking this cycle must be worse than death. There is neither a choice to make nor a mind left to decide. Logic no longer visits its home. Emotions have long flown away with the storks. Perhaps we must wait for the next season; maybe the storks will bring a birth with them.

Stolen
I now had a new key, without knowing which door it opened. I will try it. A missing piece of a lifeless body… All the dust swept away by a broom now lies beneath the rug. All the scattered dust rests on the wings of butterflies. It is clearly heavy even for them; their condition reveals it. Their wings have grown heavy, once I left them to time.
A hidden window, at the incision where my subconscious opens to me. It never said it would always have a plan for me, but it said it knew everything and would teach me. How could I have known that so many of my dreams were speaking to me? How could I have known that all the numbers falling into my mind would give me the code? 1845 is my key to the future. I will be late to the tea party, but I can now find such a silence wherever I wish. I gather the withered flowers and hold them in my palms. What waits behind this door is a gift for me. I know it will be very saddened when it sees me. When it plunges the dagger into me, it will surely watch my soul take flight. For me, it is beyond even a disappointment—beyond expectation. Otherwise, it would have been a worse ending than the serpent devouring its own tail. But for it, this is a new beginning, because it has already disappeared. It has already adapted to peace, far away where anxieties cannot consume it and fears cannot even reach. Perhaps it is the potential of my best self.
I never minded that you did not understand me. When I did not reveal my secrets, I did not expect you to guess them. When I spread all my pain, I did not expect you to seize it in your hands. I did not expect you to sprinkle over my head all the dust that would lighten me. I never thought that the many words spoken would illuminate me. I did not know how to read the many cards you showed. When you pointed with your finger, I never wondered what exactly you meant. While drowning beneath so much pain, I never asked, “Why me?” I never went to that theater where inconsistent behaviors performed themselves beneath all those words. I never memorized the lines offered to me. I never liked the plate set before me. In that universe where I stole your eyes and fled, I did not know that you would no longer be able to see me. But I could feel it—there was always someone watching me. I could feel all the emotions those eyes made me live through. A floating eye circling around me… I stand upside down, hanging downward, looking through the reverse of my eyes. This time, on the road, I will not turn on the light despite the darkness. My instincts are tassels; they will pull me along, holding my hands. I can feel it—yet this end is only a beginning.

Everything began here. When my pain started to consume me, I no longer knew how to continue. Its intensity was so overwhelming that the tremors I could not control, along with the draining of my blood, felt as though they were stopping my brain. The intensity was so great that it felt like a gas swirling between my ribs, its ache making my stomach churn. I wanted to vomit, yet there was nothing inside me to expel—only my emotions, suppressed and dizzying. The screams I had buried seemed to take the shape of a hand, gripping my throat and digging in its nails as if choking me. I felt myself bleeding, from within. My pain was unbearable. The emptiness was so vast that I could not fill the spaces left by my stolen organs. I tried constantly, yet as a flaw of creation, I had been split in two—another part of me somewhere unseen, existing without my knowledge.

FEEL MY PAİN I’M BLEEDİNG

Şimdi anlıyorum. Her şeyin başladığı yerdeyken.
Now I understand. Standing where everything began, I passed through my life again like a wind— from the very beginning to the end. I saw my pains. Each of them had spread across time, one by one. Whenever I felt pain, it appeared before me. Knowing I was being watched tightened me even more, because I was unprotected.
It reached the breaking point. It cracked, and a piece fell away. A butterfly drifted down from the air and filled the gap. It was not meant to be noticed. It was not meant to be understood. It had to remain hidden, gathering enough strength to fly at the right time. Yet as the butterfly stayed there, it began to decay. The void consumed it as well and finished it. Now its dried skeleton is like glass. It will turn to dust and dissolve into the sand.

Now I have found it—within the palms of my hands.
It is my turn to take control, for the secondary self has already become dominant. I am in my darkness, my own darkness. Lighting the flame or creating something new depends on me. I can open a few windows if I wish, but what meaning would there be in returning to those days in which I lived only in dreams? Deceiving myself dragged me into darkness, yet I had been living in my own reality all along.
Now everything has passed and settled. My pain has quieted, though I can feel that it will surge again as I continue on this path. The only thing left to do is to establish dominion and live accordingly. I chose my darkness. When I am within my own darkness, I have nothing to fear. What I will encounter excites my curiosity, because what I am truly meant to possess will always appear before me.

Her şeyin kendi haline bırakılması gerekliydi.
Now the self was established. I had seen the abyss, but the many raging waves flowing between us were no different from sharks ready to bite me. Even the waves were afraid of the sounds they made. The snail had long since withdrawn into its shell. A turtle stood at the shore, covered with moss. I took the rope and stretched it across. I walked like a tightrope walker—on the thin line between reason and madness. I swayed greatly; I thought I would fall, yet clinging to the rope and waiting still carried me to the other side of the abyss. I was across now. There was neither grass nor meadow here. My footprints would no longer be visible, and the many dandelions I had stepped on would no longer multiply. Everything had to be left to itself. As for me, I took my eyes into my hands and stepped aside. Now I walk boldly down the middle of the road—at night as well, not from the corner but again from the center. The darkness was my darkness. The sphere turned upside down and blurred. Only one last step remained for me to reach the reality of my mind. Perhaps when my wings finally emerged, my feet would no longer grow weary. When I completed my transformation, the light would no longer rise above me and burn my wings. Now I was justified in flying. At the very least, this was something I possessed.
Sona ulaştım,mükemmelliği gördüm. Kusursuz değildim onca yara izim vardı çünkü ama yaşanmışlıkların kanıtıydı, acımın kanıtıydı.
I reached the end; I saw perfection.I was not flawless, because I carried many scars, but they were proof of what had been lived proof of my pain.
Anahtar benim, bilincimde saklı
The key is hidden within my consciousness.
