IBUKUN SUNDAY
A Peaceful City
My name is Ibukun Oladipupo Sunday. I am a sound artist and a violist and am also a classical musician from Nigeria, living and working in Lagos. I use sound to create ambient music live electronics soundart soundscape synthesizer music noise experimental sound dark ambient and improvisations. I also make sounds to connect wild and human feelings.
My kind of sound is a transcendental (surpassing) sound journey into the inner depths…
As a classical musician I have always wanted to do something different apart from playing classical music and so I moved into soundart.
So I searched for an institution / school in Lagos Nigeria but could not find one, so in 2013 I started to do research on soundart and experimental music. It took me 3years 2months and 1week after that I found myself into sound.
When I started playing the viola I knew I was going into sound. There is no thriving sound art scene in Lagos yet but I do perform my work with dancers / visual artists / spoken word poets etc.
A PEACEFUL CITY
We need to keep making our streets safer and our criminal justice system fairer – our homeland more secure, our world more peaceful and sustainable for the next generation. The objective I propose is quite simple to state: to foster the infrastructure of democracy – the system of a free press, unions, political parties, universities – which allows a people to choose their own way to develop their own culture, to reconcile their own differences through peaceful means. Compiling the most peaceful cities to stay in the World is no mean feat, but it is doable given the fact that people are looking for peaceful places to raise a family and live without fear of recurrent bombings and kidnappings. So if you want a place where the local people are very friendly, where English is generally spoken, where you can put up a house and retire to, where you can raise your children, where you can sleep with both eyes closed without fears of kidnappings or ethno-religious crises, and where security is assured without fears of armed crime, then you might find A PEACEFUL CITY…
