A name that paints itself in all expressive modes that I encountered in my 28 years of/as: fine arts student, gallery & museums practitioner, film student, photo & film practitioner, Arts Administrator, visual representation activism…
Recently, more closer to me in person. He is becoming more instrumental in my quest to validate Art as a conscious tool to tangible freedoms of this land and its people of all difference.
As the quote goes “we must be rooted so that we can fly”, his compelling conversations demand that we seek and ask questions to discover our own answers of what it means to be rooted.
I got on that train to the airport heading back home after visiting Lefifi in his apartment on the Sibeliusgangen in Stockholm where he has lived since 1982, with a lot of words describing what could be possible in my world that I share with many others. Being rooted has got to be a function for today inspired by what is possible, with the past as my teacher/s.
Thank you Chamza, you are the ‘baddest’ Cat. Keep ‘jiving’ because we have a duty to conserve and celebrate the dance with you and within you. Till we speak again on whatsapp later… and looking forward to all infinite possibilities.
