Just saw this incredible live band! I only even heard of them 3 days ago…. and now you have too! BCUC from South Africa who performed using 11 of the S.A. languages – two bass drums, a bass, hand drums, tambourine, whistles, lots of shaking things, amazing vocalists and singers. It was in a half empty seated concert hall, maybe 150 people max, but people were losing there shit from the moment they came on!
It’s a spirit calling groovin’ Psychedelic African trance punk rockin’ church preacher, township soul gospel free jazz ecstatic cacophony – epic!
If you’ve ever been in an African charismatic church in a steaming hot windowless railway arch, with one light, at midnight as people start to go into trance and speak in tongues then this had a flavour of that… without the god bit (I think?)
