CARA STACEY
Seed
‘Seed‘ is a response to the work of master musicians such as Mantombi Matotiyana. Using a sonic vocabulary derived from uhadi, piano and found sound, this piece explores the place of musical bows within my memory. They have worked as a rocky foundation, as social glue in and outside a studio, as a versatile tool of extended technique scratches and pops, and as potent fertiliser for improvisation. They are quiet, dark corners and exposed hot stages.
